Landing Page Checklist: 12 Elements Every High-Converting Page Needs

A landing page has one job: turn a visitor into a lead or a buyer. After reviewing hundreds of pages, the difference between the ones that convert at 1% and the ones that convert at 8% comes down to the same twelve elements.

The checklist

  1. 1.One headline that states the outcome, not the product ('Fill your calendar with qualified sales calls', not 'AI-powered marketing platform')
  2. 2.A subheadline that says who it is for and how it works in one sentence
  3. 3.One primary call to action, repeated down the page, and no competing links or navigation
  4. 4.The ad promise matched exactly: if the ad said 'free audit', the page says 'free audit', not 'book a demo'
  5. 5.Proof above the fold: a number, a client logo, or a review count visible without scrolling
  6. 6.A specific offer, not a vague one ('30-minute check-up with a prioritised action plan' beats 'get in touch')
  7. 7.Objection handling: the three questions every prospect silently asks, answered on the page
  8. 8.Social proof with faces and names, because anonymous quotes convince nobody
  9. 9.A form that asks only for what you need (every extra field costs conversions)
  10. 10.Mobile load time under 3 seconds, because most paid traffic is on a phone
  11. 11.A risk reverser: free, no commitment, money-back, or cancel anytime, stated plainly
  12. 12.What happens next, spelled out ('You book, we send a calendar invite within 24 hours'), because uncertainty kills form fills

The one test that matters most

Show your page to someone for five seconds, then hide it and ask: what do we offer, who is it for, and what were you supposed to do? If they cannot answer all three, no amount of traffic will save the page.
